The Red House
The "Red House" was Constructed between 600-900 AD and gets its name from the remenants of red paint that once decorated its inner walls. It's actual name and function are not clear. As with most ancient Maya structures in Yucatan, the names we use for them were assigned by either the discoverers or the soldiers of the conquest and often times have little or nothing to do with the actual name the Maya had for them.
