The Great Ball Court
Temple of the Jaguar
So named for the throne found in it (see photo below), the Temple of the Jaguar has recently been restored.
The temple occupies much of the eastern wall of the Great Ball Court. The Upper Temple of the Jaguar overlooks the ball court while the Lower Temple of the Jaguar, seen here, faces out into the main plaza of Chichen Itza.
INAH, the Mexican agency that oversees archaeological zones, recently restored the structure of the Upper Temple. It also cleaned and restored a mural in the Lower Temple.
